| DESCRIPTION | | Premium Polymer Modified Feather Finish. |
| USE | | Sure Finish is a trowel applied, highly polymer modified, cement based, rapid setting underlayment and wall repair material that provides an exceptionally smooth true “feather finish" to a wide variety of substrates. Sure Finish can be applied over properly prepared concrete, plywood, ceramic tile, VCT and cutback adhesives. |
| STANDARDS | SPECIFICATIONS: Pot Life at 70°F (21°C) – 15-25 minutes Final Set at 70°F (21°C) – 30-40 minutes Flooring Installation Time at 70°F (21°C) – 50-60 minutes Compressive Strength – ASTM C-109 1 day 2,000-2,300 psi (13.8-15.9 MPa) 7 days 2,300-2,800 psi (15.9-19.3 MPa) 28 days 4,500-5,000 psi (31.0-34.5 MPa) |
| ADVANTAGES | PURPOSE: Sure Finish can be used to create an exceptionally smooth underlayment prior to the installation of floor coverings, such as carpet, VCT and vinyl sheet. It can also be used as a repair compound on exterior vertical above grade concrete prior to coating. Sure Finish can fill in small pits, voids and hairline cracks on any concrete surface, such as tilt-up panels and precast products. Sure Finish can be used up to 1/2" (12.7mm) thick for larger repairs, birdbaths, irregularities at thresholds, and any height transition in the substrate. Sure Finish can be used for flash patching, skim coating, and as a fill over ridges, gouges, and seams on practically all types of subflooring; including concrete, plywood, VCT, ceramic tile, quarry tile, cement terrazzo and well bonded non water based cutback adhesive residue.
ADVANTAGES:
- Economical – skim coat up to 30 ft2 (2.78 m2) per pound
- No sand or aggregate fillers, results in a true featheredge finish
- True featheredge up to l/2" (12.7mm) without cracking
- No minimum thickness requirement
- No priming needed
- Mix with water only to a creamy smooth workable consistency
- Excellent bond to most surfaces
- Cement based, no odor, solvents or V.O.C.
- Quick turn around time, final set 30 minutes
- Light gray color closely matches concrete
- Polymer modified for superior bond strength
- Excellent freeze/thaw, mold and mildew resistance

| APPLICATION | Surface Preparation – Insure that the substrate is structurally sound, well bonded, fastened, and cleaned of all dirt, dust, oil, grease, paint, coatings, curing agents, sealers, waxes or any other material or compounds that interfere with bonding of the Sure Finish. Concrete floors must be of adequate strength and cured a minimum of 28 days. Plywood subfloors should not be directly on grade or be ventilated. Plywood should be APA Exterior, Group 1, CC Type. Adhesives, if present, must be non water based type. Prepare existing adhesive by wet razor scraping to a thin well bonded residue as recommended by the Resilient Floor Covering Institute.
Mixing – Sure Finish is mixed with water. Mix approximately 2.5 – 2.75 qts. (2.36 – 2.60 L) of water per 10 lb (4.5 kg). bag of Sure Finish powder. Mix only as much material that can be used in 25 minutes. Mix full 10 lb (4.53 kg) units with a mechanical mixer (300 rpm) only. Smaller quantities can be mixed by hand. Always use clean potable water. Always place water in the mixing container first, then add the Sure Finish powder while continuously mixing. Mix thoroughly until all powder has been completely dispersed to a lump free, creamy consistency. Do not over mix. Do not use more than the recommended amount of water and do not re-temper during use. Over mixing will induce air and reduce working time. Temperature of the water and material will affect the work and set times. Higher temperatures will shorten work time while lower temperatures will extend it.
Application – Sure Finish is applied by straight edge steel trowel forcing the material into the substrate to fill and cover surface voids and defects. Feather finish as necessary. No minimum thickness is required. Standard floor coverings such as sheet vinyl, VCT, tiles and carpet can be installed over the Sure Finish in approximately 50-60 minutes after placement. Special flooring such as urethanes, epoxies and some adhesives may necessitate 16 hours cure of the Sure Finish.
Storage and Shelf Life – Always store Sure Finish in a cool dry place out of the sun. Reseal unused containers tightly. Shelf life, when stored properly, is 12 months from the date of manufacturer. |
| SPECIAL NOTES | | LIMITATIONS: Do not apply at temperatures below 40°F (4°C) Do not apply over gypsum based substrates or water based adhesives. Do not use as a wearing layer. Do not use as an exterior patch for horizontal substrates. |
